Moldovan SME organisation takes a look back over its achievements as it turns ten

The confererence to mark the anniversary of the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium Size Enterprises (ODIMM) in the Republic of Moldova in May saw participants take stock of the projects and programmes implemented by the organisation over that time.

The ODIMM has helped reform the regulatory framework in the country, promote market access, develop human capital and facilitate access to finance for SMEs. It has also worked to promote education and training.

In order to encourage the Moldovan business in the agricultural field, the project team ‘Technical Assistance for the Implementation of DCFTA’, jointly with the Organization for the Attraction of Investments and Promotion of Exports from Moldova (MIEPO), published the report ‘Two years from Implementation of DCFTA and impact on agricultural trade in the Republic of Moldova ‘.

The publication presents a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) on the quantitative and qualitative change in exports and imports of agricultural and agri-food products as well as on their geographic reorientation in the trade relations of the Republic of Moldova with the EU. “One of the major impacts of DCFTA was the reduction of tariffs and the alignment of agricultural commercial standards with those of the European Union. This fact conditioned the growth of Moldovan agricultural products over 25% in 2016 compared to 2014 ", according to the study.
