EU4Business has been assisting in the creation of Business Hubs, or business support centres, to boost Moldova’s economy since 2018. The purpose of these centres is to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region by providing various training and mentoring sessions, along with guidance and consulting.
The most important regional event dedicated to business development in the region, ˮCahul Business Summitˮ, was held for the first time in the south of the country. The event brought together on the same stage government officials, national experts, entrepreneurs, representatives of the private sector and all those interested in the economic and digital development of the region.
The European Union is allocating over €300,000 to support new business start-ups and business development on both banks of the Nistru River.
The EBRD is lending €50 million to Moldova’s largest bank – maib – to reinforce its funding base in the challenging economic environment caused by the war on Ukraine. It will also enable maib to continue supporting the Moldovan economy, with a focus on private businesses.
The European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) will provide a 7-year subordinated loan in Moldovan lei equivalent to €15 million to MoldovaAgroindbank (maib).
